SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 available for download for MSDN subscribers

If you've got an MSDN subscription, head on over to MSDN to download SQL Server 2005 Beta 2. 

The iso image file is 595.5 MB.  I downloaded it this morning in under 30 minutes.  Now I've just got to install it.

The install is interesting (if you have your master.dbf or .ldf compressed on an NTFS drive, uncompress them otherwise the install will hiccup).

Looks very pretty until you come to do a really simple task, open up table or view *contents* in the management tools.

It's not there. It's not possible.

What the heck?

Open up a view a table or view contents? Do you not normally do this through Query Analyzer?

You can't. Opening a view or table (there's no open, it's just modify) shows the "source" for the table.


And Query Analyzer doesn't help when you want to simply edit a table cell without having to write some SQL, which good old SQL2K Enterprise Manager used to let you do.


(Oh and the install nicely got rid of my SQL 2k tools)

The beta website setup SUCKS!!! :) You would think all the brains at Microsoft could figure out an easy way to let people access the newsgroups wouldn't you. hmmmmmmm
