January 2004 Blog Posts
I've finally updated to the latest build of .TEXT.
Microsoft has been playing around with a language called Xen. It's a set of extensions to C# to manipulate XML and relational data. The article is fairly interesting to work through. It's an attempt to move the most common data storage mechanisms into the language. It's still only research at this point but it's a pretty interesting read.
I found out last week that I'd been named an MVP for SQL Server. Which I think is pretty darn cool! I don't know if anyone else on the site was added to the list but hopefully I'll track that down. Thanks Steve and Rob. And who ever else helped :)
The launch event for SQL Server Reporting Services is January 27th, 2004. It starts at 9AM PST. You can register to view the event online. Microsoft says it will have “executive keynote speakers, real-world customer testimonials, technical content and demos, and a Q&A session“. I'm not sure how much technical content you'll get in a launch event though.
