Blog Comment Spam

It seems the comment spambots have figured out .Text. I've had three spams today left in my comments.

Yeah, blog comment spam sucks. I've gotten perhaps a dozen or so spam comments on my blog - http://scottonwriting.net/ - over the past year or so.

Long term, blogs need to globally incorporate some more advanced commenting sematics, like requiring accounts or whatnot. Not only do anonymous accounts allow for easy blog spamming, but it's also too easy to post as someone else.

I discuss some ideas on improving the blog experience at:

I got one today too. Apparently they used google to get a list of blogs by using this as their search query (in my case):

allinurl:++"/posts/161.aspx"

Damian, I got hit too. How are you handling this? Just deleting the comments?

Spammers fall on the hierarchy of life forms well below used car salesmen and most contingency-fee personal injury lawyers...

Yep, it's few enough at the moment that it doesn't take long to just delete them.

Now they have discovered .text I guess we need to come up with a better solution.
