SQL Server MVP's
No Kidding...I should have guessed that Bill was one. There's a boat load of MVPs. Let's see who we know. OK so 85 ain't a boat load.
I know or have spoken with
Mr. Bill, Frank Kalis, Adam Machanic (I believe this is our Adam), Brad McGehee, Nigel Rivett, Jasper Smith, Rob Volk (And why isn't his bio there?)
Don't know, but I'd like to.
Kalen Delaney (Still have to get her internals book), Brian Knight (I love Brians Books), Valeria Rodriguez Z. (Tell me again why all dba's don't look like this?)

re: SQL Server MVP's Cool... You and Jeff both in bean town...ever run in to one another? I've been troubleshooting a vendor app all week, and I think I'm gonna really need it...mostly to blow away all the smoke the vendor is making... "Oh yes, SQL Server may approach locks and different client sites..." Where's my bat |

re: SQL Server MVP's Too bad I can't EDIT: Thats "Oh yes, SQL Server may approach locks *at* different client sites..." They don't what they code is doing. Oh, I also had to listen as to why cursors are a good thing...my head almost exploded |

re: SQL Server MVP's Haven't met Jeff yet, unfortunately! Hopefully sometime soon. Good luck dealing with the moronic clients... I hate that. So why are cursors a good thing? |

re: SQL Server MVP's "Cursors are good because they can isolate Business logic...." I almost dropped him with a right cross...my Veep was bashing the principle of the vendor good enough however, so I just sat back and enjoyed the show. The trace doesn't lie, and any process that takes 60 secods is ridiculous... When I'm up visiting my sis-in-law, I gotta buy you and Jeff a pint at the Beer works...what's on tap this spring? |

re: SQL Server MVP's Works for me! One of the Beer Works is a block from where I work (by the Fleet Center, a.k.a. Banknorth Garden). They've been getting into some interesting faux-Belgians, including a really nice strong ale. Although personally my favorite beer there is the pumpkin ale they serve in the fall. I'm not sure what it means to isolate business logic... And I probably don't want to know :) |

re: SQL Server MVP's "Business logic..." It was pure BS, he thought he had a room full of suits that didn't know any better... THen he went on to say how sql server locking could be different for different clients at different sites for the same application code... It was at this point that my veep didn't care, and pressed them that this app was in production, was not performing in a usual and customary manner and demanded a resolution to the problem. He didn't care about the details of the problem. He was quite happy to present my findings, and the solution I offered to them...even after I collapsed the cursor and nested procedures to a single update, they still were defending their code... I'm in the wrong business... I got a pumpkin Ale T-shirt from the Cambridge Brewing company...mmmmmmm |

re: SQL Server MVP's Dang, today I found out that Technorati, not Google is the #1 search engine for blogs and after doing some searches, it looks like I've got a lot of blogs to bookmark and link to from my site. You don't mind me linking to your blog? :-) |
