Response from Captain Matthew Feula, W.O. Police Department
Dear Mr. Kaiser:
I am in receipt of your e-mail with regard to the above subject matter from
Chief James P. Abbott. I apologize for the delay in responding back to your
e-mail. Since I have taken over as the Patrol Commander on November 7,
2005, a computer problem occurred that I was unaware of; therefore, I did
not receive any e-mail correspondence.
I left a voice mail for your today, November 28, 2005, on your business
telephone (973) 802-2816.
I completed a computer check of the Gregory Avenue area of the Township,
dating back to August 1, 2005. The incident that you are referring to in
your e-mails is an isolated incident that occurred on November 9, 2005 at
6:48 a.m. During that incident which occurred on Winding Way, a resident
was approached by a black male whom emerged from a brown four door Mercury
and encountered him on foot. He then brandished a knife at which time the
resident began to run east on Winding Way with the actor chasing him on foot
a short distance. The suspect then re-entered the Mercury and fled east on
Winding Way. The victim could not supply any further information and was
not injured during the incident.
There are no similar incidents that should concern your riders to date. I
have implemented a directed patrol for higher visibility along the Gregory
Avenue corridor during the early morning hours. I would be most
appreciative if you would forward to me a time schedule and complete route
for the Ridership Community of the Jitneys. I will make myself available to
you and the Rider Community, should you wish to discuss this or any other
concerns you may have. Please be advised that my day time telephone number
is (973) 325-4008 and my cell phone number is (973) 715-2443. Currently, you
may continue to e-mail at policechief@westorange.org until my own e-mail
address is established.
Sincerely,
Captain Matthew Feula
