Demo or Commercial?
On Microsoft's SQL Server Yukon web site, there is a link to Watch SQL Server “Yukon” Demo, described as a “10-minute overview of key features and functionality“. And here we have where developers and management part ways. I was reading this web site with my developer hat on, and thought that I'd actually see something being done in Yukon. You know, a demo of using the software to accomplish something. Silly me, this was not a demo as a developer thinks of it, but rather as the sub-text described it, this was an overview listing (selling) the new features to management. This becomes obvious when you start seeing the Flash presentation make lists of the buzzwords that managers like to hear are included in new software. The closest you come to actually seeing a demo of the software are a couple of screen shots that show what I assume to be the new SQL Workbench tools.
That being said, if you're looking for resources to help you sell your boss on Yukon, this overview could be a big help. They kept it to only 10 minutes, so busy managers and executives can squeeze the time into their schedules. And it does include so many of those buzzwords that today's management wants to hear.
