Spammers are the Scum of the Earth
Damian got hit by comment spam on his blog. So did I. Apparently they did a search for the phrases Title + Name + URL + Comments + “Remember Me“ which are the fields on the comment section of blogs powered by .Text.
Oh sure, we're not the first, and we certainly won't be the last, but it's still annoying. In my view, spammers fall on the hierarchy of life forms well below used car salesmen and most contingency-fee personal injury lawyers. I like my corporate lawyer, he has done a lot of good service for me in reviewing contracts, etc. And there are probably some contingency-fee personal injury lawyers out there somewhere who are doing a good job of serving their clients, which is why spammers fall below them. I don't believe spammers serve any useful purpose. If you want to advertise your product or service, then buy advertising space, but don't send me email when I didn't ask for it.
And for those of you who are undecided or even in favor of spammers, I'll refer you to a more reasoned argument by Randy Cassingham at www.SpamPrimer.com.
