One Crisis At A Time

Redgate's SQL Data Compare

I have been checking out Redgate's SQL Data Compare, a neat tool that saves you a lot of time coding the comparison manually. Basically it lets you compare the data in two tables in different database to see what is the same and what is different. It also generates the scripts to change one to look like the other. My only complaint so far is that you cannot tell it to compare 2 copies of the same table with different names in the same database.  To do that you have to move one into another database and give it the same name.

You can find it at www.red-gate.com

Hey Doug

Could you take a look at the HTML inside that post, it seems to have broken the main XML feed for the site.

I really like SQLCompare as well. One complaint that I have is that it is a bit slow, but I hear that the next version will have performance enhancements.

The V5 edition of Red-Gate's SQL Data Compare will now allow you to compare tables with different names. It also lets you compare columns with different names, so there is a lot more flexibility compared to the older Data Compare versions.
