re: SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1
I have experienced, and have heard from a few others, SP1 breaking SSIS but cannot find any info regarding this.

Submit a ticket with MS on your SSIS and sp1 problems. If sp1 caused it, then I believe the call to PSS will be free. But you'd have to check with them to confirm.

Test it first!
Make sure you test SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 thoroughly before deploying. Here is something pretty good...and then something pretty bad that I ran into with it:

Service Pack 1 hasn't presented too many problems for us. You'll find that most of the problems you experience from SP1 (or upgrading from 2000) stem from problems with your previous database or the use of replication--replication always seems to be a biggy with service packs.

re: SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 problems
After installing a fresh copy of SQL Server 2000 on a newly built 2003 box then installing SQL Server 2005 works fine (proof of concept project), however after installing SP1, integration services won't start.

A removal then re-install of integration services works fine. Re-apply SP1 and the same thing happens again. This is not a big deal for us as it’s only on a development box, being used to test the install. Going through the logs but nothing obvious yet, will be placing a call to MS premium support otherwise.

Solution for SSIS:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing]
"State"=dword:00023e00
